ABOUT US

Winding Waters is a vibrant, active chapter of more than 96 women who are passionate about community service, preserving history, educating children, as well as honoring and supporting those who serve our nation.

Our chapter activities include marching in the Brooksville Annual Veterans Day Parade, participating in Wreaths Across America every December, supporting the 5 DAR Schools and colleges across Appalachia and providing scholarship funds for Indian students and schools, including:

  • Chemawa Indian School, Salem, Oregon

  • Bacone College, Muskogee, Oklahoma

We sponsor the annual DAR Good Citizen Award and History Essay contests.  We also support the JROTC programs at Hernando, Central and F.W. Springstead High Schools.  Our members dedicate many hours to community service and to our Service for Veterans Committee which serves the wounded and disabled veterans and their families at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Haley's Cove and Fisher House.
